This article explains to check that SAFR SCAN and SAFR Server are updated to the latest version, and if not, download and update both.

SAFR Server

Check Version

  1. Go to SAFR Desktop > Tools menu > About
  2. Check the version of SAFR Server
  3. Check and compare the version with the latest version on SAFR Download Portal
    1. Go to http://safr.real.com/download
    2. Ensure the OS selection dropdown matches your operating system
    3. Identify the SAFR Platform desired download.  Unless you have a GPU, use "CUDA 10" version
    4. Compare the latest version to the version found above, if later, download the software

Update Software

Once downloaded, just run the installer.  The installer will turn off SAFR Server windows services and perform the update.  Unless you are sure, do not change options in the installer - 99% of installations use defaults.  Just await the installer to complete.  While the installer is running, the SAFR Server will not be syncronizing any people and credentials from your PACS and will not be updating SAFR SCAN devices.  But during this time, all SAFR SCAN devices will continue to function as normal with the local database.  When update is complete, SAFR SCAN will upload  events that it was unable to transmit to the server.

SAFR SCAN

There are two methods to update the firmware depending on if your SAFR SCAN device has connection to SAFR download server or not. Below describes both methods.

Install from Cloud

If the SAFR SCAN device can connect to SAFR Download server, then use this method.

If SAFR SCAN connected to SAFR Server

  1. Go to SAFR Desktop Tools menu > Video Feeds
  2. For the SAFR SCAN you wish to update, select the "..." menu on the Processor row
  3. Choose "Update Processor..."
  4. Select the most recent update from the list and click "Update"

If SAFR SCAN not connected to SAFR Server

  1. Open SAFR SCAN Web Console
  2. Go to System > Update
  3. Click "Check for  Updates"
  4. Select the most recent update from the list and click "Update"

Firmware will be first installed onto a separate partition.  During this time, SAFR SCAN will continue to operate.  At the end of installation, SAFR SCAN will reboot and switch to the new partition.  This process minimizes downtime.

Install  from File

If you managed to update firmware using above instructions, there is no need to proceed.
