Quick Reference Sheet (SC100/SC200)
SAFR SCAN First Run
1.
Plug in PoE (IP Address will be displayed on screen as device boots).
2.
Open SAFR SCAN Console at http://IP_ADDRESS obtained above.
3.
Click “Set Up System Login” when prompted and complete form. Then log in.
4.
Before Proceeding
a.
Update Firmware to latest (System > Update).
•
If online, click “Check for updates” and select latest firmware version
b.
Confirm Structured Light Calibration
•
Open Live tab. Change video preview dropdown to ‘Face 3D”
•
Stand between 1 to 3 feet from the device and verify contour map of face looks valid. See
https://docs.real.com/access/guides/articles/checking_calibration
for details.
5.
Add faces in one of following ways:
a.
Upload face images through “Add” button on the People tab,
b.
Open Live tab, pose in front of device and then click “Enroll” on the resulting event.
6.
Test Face Matching.
a.
Edit person record in People tab. Set Access Clearance to “Unlimited”.
b.
Stand between 1 to 3 feet from the device and verify that the LED ring flashes green.

If LED ring does not flash green, check Troubleshooting section of the Quick Start Guide
b.
OSDP: System > OSDP > OSDP connection to Control Panel = Enabled.
c.
Relay: System > Door Strike Relay > Electric door strike relay = Enabled (adjust duration if needed).
8.
Add credentials to person record. Go to People > Edit Person and set the following:
a.
Access Clearance = Unlimited
b.
Access Card Format = Select applicable format.
c.
Access Card Facility ID and Access Card ID = Set to facility ID and user ID, respectively.
9.
Set Card Format on reader. Go to System > Card Format and select Card Format from the list of options or select “Custom” and
define a card format matching that defined on your access control panel.
Now SAFR SCAN should be sending signal to panel to unlock door or close relay. See next page for wiring diagram.
Download and Install SAFR Software
Use SAFR On-Premises Server or SAFR Cloud to manage multiple devices centrally and synchronize people from your PACS.

Choose between SAFR cloud or On-Premises and complete the form. Check your inbox to verify email address.
3.
You should get an email within 24 hours to activate the license and set a password.
Install SAFR Platform or SAFR Desktop application.

Sign in with the SAFR Account created above.
3.
Download and install SAFR Platform or SAFR Desktop.
•
For SAFR On-Premises, download the CUDA 10 Edition for Windows or Linux
•
For SAFR Cloud, download SAFR Desktop Lite Edition
4.
When installation is complete, sign into the Desktop Client using the customer’s SAFR Account credentials.
1.
Open the SAFR SCAN Web Console as described above and navigate to System > SAFR Server.
•
If SAFR Cloud, enter the SAFR Account credentials.


SAFR SCAN Hardware Setup
Mounting Instructions
Mounting Bracket
•
Remove mounting bracket from SAFR SCAN housing by unscrewing the two
screws at bottom of housing using a 2mm hex wrench.
•
Attach mounting bracket to 2-Gang or 1-Gang junction box using holes marked
“A” as shown. Ensure threaded tabs (C) at bottom.
•
Hook SAFR SCAN housing to the two hooked tabs (D) and slide scan housing up
until contacting threaded tabs (C).
•
Secure SAFR SCAN to mounting bracket with two screws using 2MM hex
wrench.
For outdoor installations, following are required
•
1/8 bead of silicone around rubber gasket on both sides of the Mounting Plate.
•
The junction box should be conductive and connected to Earth ground.
•
A weatherproof junction box.
Wiring Instructions
•
Reset Button:
Hold button for 10 seconds while device powered to reset device to factory defaults.
•
OSDP Termination Switch:
Set to On (up) on furthest reader if multiple readers on bus. Default is Off (down).
•
Aux Power:
12 VDC@1 Amp/24 VDC@0.5 Amp (13W). Polarity reversible. twisted pair 18 AWG.
•
SAFR Expansion Port
: Only connect certified SAFR Expansion products.
•
PoE
: PoE 802.3af, Class 3; 13 watts.
Tools Needed
•
2mm flathead screwdriver (for terminal block screws).
•
2mm hex wrench (for SAFR SCAN device to Mounting Plate screws).
ALWAYS
include ground wire with connectivity to panel ground. (Unlike card or PIN-only readers, scan is not powered
from panel and thus requires a shared ground with panel or Wiegand/OSDP signals may not be interpreted correctly).
Device should be grounded through earth ground to avoid issues arising from static electricity.
Device must be shielded from strong continuous sunlight to avoid damage to display.
