1 Introduction

This technical note describes how to force a resync of records that are not properly synchronized to SAFR.

There are two conditions in which a resync to SAFR may be required.

  1. SAFR Software defect or edits in SAFR resulted in SAFR not having the all person records and their credentials.
  2. Some action in AMAG resulted in not all person records being present in the export tables.

2 Refresh records from SAFR

A resync of all records can be forced in SAFR at any time using the procedure described here. While rare, this may be necessary if there are software defects that resulted in not all records being imported fully or records were deleted or updated in SAFR inadvertently.

  1. Open SAFR Software (either SAFR Desktop or SAFR Server Web Console)
  2. Open System Configuration page
    1. SAFR Desktop: Tools menu > System Configuration
    2. SAFR Server Web Console: Click on “Status” page
  3. Scroll down Remote Control and Sync Configuration: section
  4. Under “Set up External Identify synchronization” and Click “Reconfigure” button
Note: Changing to Enabled and then Enabled does not force a full refresh.

  5. Enter the password and submit

SAFR will perform a full refresh. Any records that would not have been imported will be deleted from SAFR. All records that are to be imported will be imported as if they were new.

3 Refresh Records from AMAG

This process is intended to force one or more records in AMAG to be pushed to SAFR. This process involves performing a bulk update of records in AMAG using the Bulk Card Amendment tool.

This can be a subset of records or all records. This method is not intended to clean up records in SAFR that should be deleted but will perform a complete update in SAFR of each record that is updated in AMAG.

3.1 Bulk Updating Card Holders

If you have many card holders to refresh, you can make an update in bulk to assign all at once. This section describes that process.

3.1.1 Force changes to appear in SAFR

Some changes like card holder credential format does not result in the person record being updated in SAFR. To force these types of changes to apply to SAFR, a change must be made that will cause the person record to be put into the export table. To do this, a personal property must be changed in addition to the credential format. If one does not exist, create a personal property before hand. These are described below.

3.1.2 Creating a Personal Property

  1. Go to Setup > Identity > Personal Data > Card Holder Titles
  2. Create a new dummy property (e.g. “BulkSync”) and set the Field type as String as follows:

3.1.3 Bulk Update Card Holders

The following procedure describes how to make bulk updates and force those updates to sync to SAFR by adding a change to a personal property.

  1. Go to Home > Identity > Bulk Card Assignments
  2. Use a filter to select one or more people.
