1 Introduction
SAFR can import a subset of records in AMAG by using the Credential ID as the filter. When enabled, SAFR will import all card holders with one or more credential formats. Users without any cards using the desired credential format will not be imported to SAFR.
If the desired set of card holders already have a one or more card credentials that are unique to the group of users you wish to import, then you just need to configure SAFR to filter on only those credential IDs.
If needed, you can change the credential id of the target group of card holders by duplicating their existing credential and using the duplicate card credential id as the filter. This process is explained below under creating and assigning new card credential id.
Note: Card holders should have one and only one active card with the desired credential format. If a card holder has more than one active card with desired credential format, then the most recently added or updated card is imported.
This technical note describes how to set the credential format in SAFR so that only persons with the list of selected credential formats are imported.
Also described is the following:
- How to duplicate credential formats in AMAG
- How to set credential format on card holder record in AMAG
- How to bulk update card holders in AMAG (useful to update many credential formats at once)
2 Setting Credential Format Filter in SAFR
In SAFR, edit the following properties file:
Filename: amag.properties
Location: C:\Program Files\RealNetworks\SAFR\covi\app\config\covi
Add or edit the following line:
amag.card.format.filter=150
- The value 150 should be changed to the desired card format ID.
Note: Formats defined in “Credential Format” is selected via the “Card Format” dropdown list in AMAG card holder record.
This property supports a comma separated list of credential IDs. Credential IDs can be found in the Credential Format Dialog in AMAG found in Install > Default Settings > Credential Format.
Example using 3 different Credential Formats:
amag.card.format.filter=150,0,11
- This will import the custom “Alt Legacy” format in addition to the built in formats Legacy and AMAG = 32.
3 Setting Credential Format in AMAG
3.1 Duplicating Credential Format in AMAG
If only a subset of card holders in AMAG sharing the same credential format are to be imported into SAFR, then assign a duplicate Credential Format to the card holders you wish to import into SAFR. Following describes how to duplicate a credential format in AMAG.
- Open the Symmetry App and log in as a user with installer permissions.
-
Go to Install > Default Settings > Card Formats as below:
If you do not see the above dialog, confirm the user you are logged in as has installer permissions. -
Click New to create a new Credential Format
-
Enter a name and select a Layout from the Credential Format you are duplicating.
-
Save this and confirm the new Credential Format appears in the Credential Formats dialog.
- Take note of the Format ID. This will be used in ‘amag.card.format.id’ in the SAFR settings described above.
3.2 Assign Credential Format to Card Holder
The newly created Credential Format can be assigned to a person as described below.
- Open the person record
-
Go to Credentials tab and change “Card Format” to the newly created Credential Format from above.
3.3 Bulk Updating Card Holders
If you have many card holders to assign a custom Credential Format, you can make an update in bulk to assign all at once. This section describes that process.
3.3.1 Force changes to appear in SAFR
Changing the credential format for a user does not result in the person record being updated in SAFR. To force the change to apply to SAFR, a change must be made that will cause the person record to be put into the export table. To do this, a personal property must be changed in addition to the credential format. If one does not exist, create a personal property before hand. These are described below.
3.3.2 Creating a Personal Property
- Go to Setup > Identity > Personal Data > Card Holder Titles
-
Create a new dummy property (e.g. “BulkSync”) and set the Field type as String as follows:
- Save and close the dialog.
3.3.3 Add Bulk Card Change Credential Format permission
By default, the installer user does not have permission to update the Card Credential in bulk edit window.
In order for the records to be updated in SAFR, you must make an additional change that will allow
You will need Bulk Card Change Credential Format permission if you want to perform bulk update to the Credential Format for cardholders. Enable this permission as follows:
- Go to Maintenance > User & Preferences > Roles
- Find user (e.g. Installer) and open the Roles dialog
-
Go to Permission Configuration > Install > System > Default Settings and enable Credential Formats with full permissions.
3.3.4 Bulk Update Card Holders
The following procedure describes how to make bulk updates and force those updates to sync to SAFR by adding a change to a personal property.
- Go to Home > Identity > Bulk Card Assignments
-
Use a filter to select one or more people.
- If desired, Select a Filter in the “Filter by” dropdown and set a value
- Click “Find” to retrieve the filtered records
- Click All to select all persons in left panel (or select one at a time)
- Click the >> button to move those records to the Selected for Bulk Amendment list
-
Set a Credential Format in the Credential Details tab
-
Check the “Change Credential Format to” to desired Credential
- if disabled, see Add Bulk Card Change Credential Format permission above.
-
Check the “Change Credential Format to” to desired Credential
-
Set a value for the “BulkSync” personal dummy property set above
- Submit the Bulk Change Amendments dialog to make needed changes.
- Confirm that the changes were reflected in SAFR
