If both person detection and face detection are enabled on the Detection Preferences menu in the SAFR Desktop Client, SAFR provides a unified view of people, with their bodies and faces tracked as single entities. People not facing the camera are tracked as unknown persons until they turn to face the camera, at which point facial recognition is attempted, and SAFR will associate the person with a known identity, if applicable.

See this page in the SAFR documentation for more information about this.
