SAFR Camera Deployment Checklist

This article provides a checklist of items that should be considered when planning an watchlist project with SAFR Camera.

  • Planning
    • Select camera forma factor (dome or bullet).  Bullet is recommended for outdoor.
    • Use SAFR Recognition Quality Calculator to evaluate camera placement and model
      • Inputs: camera mounting height and distance dictated by site
      • Output: Camera model (iterative process - determine which camera model yields good recognition quality given site limitations
    • Determine requirement for mounts based on physical constraints
      • SAFR Camera includes mounting plate for flat surfaces.  Poll, corner, call and other mounting hardware are available.
  •  Cameras
    • Mounting
    • POE Ethernet (or DC power if no POE switch)
  •  Software
    • SAFR Server will need PC with at least 6 cores and 32 GB RAM for up to 20 cameras.
      • If >20 cameras, consult SAFR Support or your SAFR Account Manager
    • Does customer have VMS?
      • Consider Network connection from SAFR Server to VMS Software
      • Software will connect VMS system to events/bookmarks integration.  Check the relevant integration guide for your VMS at VMS Integration Guides
      • Check that the SAFR and VMS software versions support
    • Identify reporting requirements?  Email notification, SMS, other?  Consult SAFR Support for special requirements
  • Licensing
    • SAFR Software license is included with hardware
    • Does customer have VMS?
      • VMS Integration licensing (SAFR license for integration is included but VMS may charge for API connections)
  • Networking – connectivity from reader to safr software

  • Installation time
    • Testing – Have people available to test walking thru each camera, check event generated in SAFR, check event generated in VMS
