Issues with Windows Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling
This article describes impact of having Windows Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling enabled.
On Windows 11 and Windows 2022 later, Windows Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS) is enabled by default. This has the following impacts
-
CUDA does not appear in task mgr
-
SAFR appears to use 3D processing heavily
-
On some systems, SAFR performance will be limited
For systems running SAFR, HAGS should be disabled as described below.
Turn Off HAGS
-
Go to Settings -> System -> Display -> Graphics (or Graphics Settings)
-
Turn Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling to Off and reboot the host server.
This forces Windows to rebuild the individual WDDM engine profiles.
