How do I improve recognition in low light?

Low light can be challenging for recognition.  This is especially true for masked faces or faces at high angles to the camera.  This article recommends a process to improve recognition in low lighting conditions.

First try to configure the camera to improve performance with low light.  Try reviewing this article.  https://kintronics.com/how-to-set-up-an-ip-camera-in-low-light-situations/

Use the SAFR Recognition Details until you find you have improve the contrast value as best possible with camera settings but watch the sharpness value reported in Recognition Details as well and always watch the camera image to avoid making image worse with any one setting.

Be careful not to degrade one aspect of image while trying to improve another.  Many settings have negative collateral impact.  For example, increasing gain will brighten the image but add digital noise.  Avoid going so far that the improvement in one attribute is offset by the degradation in another.

Finally, when you have the best image possible with the camera, try the SAFR Contrast Enhancement feature.  Enable this in the Camera Preferences. Start with defaults but you can adjust the threshold and boost to try to get best resul.

If the cameras are using IR light this will result in black and white images.  If still unable to get reliable recognition in this case, try to create a black and white version of each registrered face and register that as well (merge to existing).  Try that for one or two faces and see if that helps.
