Is a SAFR license bound to a computer?

Yes, SAFR licenses are bound to the computer on which they are installed.  If you are going to take either of the following actions, contact SAFR support to reset the hardware binding:

  • Move SAFR to a new computer
  • Uninstall and re-install SAFR on the same computer

Performing either of above actions without resetting the license will result in a licensing failure upon installation.


What are the hostname and port of the License Server?

SAFR Software must be able to make a connection to the following server to acquire a license during installation.

cv-instam.real.com:443

How often does SAFR Platform update its license status with the Licensing Server?

Every 2 hours


How to detect SAFR Platform has problem to verify its license to the Licensing Server?

When SAFR Platform can't verify its license, covi reports errors in covi-ws.log.

What will happen if license check fails?

If SAFR can't check license validity for ""Max reporting interval"", SAFR stops working.


Will Realnetworks send license expiration notices?

Realnetworks will send the license expiration alert to the registered email address, at 30 days, 5 days, and 24 hours before the expiration date.


Will SAFR Platform work if on isolated network?

Yes, but the license must be configured for offline usage.  This means the ""Max interval between reports"" needs to be set to unlimited or at least as long as needed.  SAFR Platform regularly tries to update its status with the license server.  If it is unable to update status for a duration of ""Max interval between reports"", SAFR Platform will shut down.


How robust is the License Server?

SAFR license server is hosted in AWS in multiple AWS Availability Zones and thus is resilient to disaster.  Software is maintained on AWS EC2 instance image and new service can be deployed to any AWS location globally should need arise.  Max reporting intervals are set sufficiently long to allow full system recovery long before any server approaches its limit .
